Beginner Pottery Wheel 6 Week Course @ Speckled Turtle

If you are looking for a new hobby, this is the perfect class to try! The pottery wheel is good for the mind, body and soul. This class you will learn all the basics of the wheel and throwing clay. Join us for a fun six weeks of clay exploration in our beginner clay class.

Students will  be required to purchase a 25 lb. bag of clay to bring to class each session. This will need to be purchased at our studio to insure it is the correct clay. If you buy clay somewhere else we will not allow you to use it.

You will need your own tool kit. You are not required to purchase from us  We do have these for sale if needed or you can find one on Amazon. Please bring an apron and a towel. Please bring on the first day of class.

Beginner Group pottery classes consist of SIX (2.5) hour long classes. The maximum number of students is six. A small class setting allows for more one on one instruction time.  Beginners will learn the basics of pottery. Including the following:

• Wedging clay
•  Centering clay
• Opening up clay
• Creating floor
• Pulling walls
• Shaping
• Finishing- Trimming
• Glazing
• Students will create 2 mugs with handles and 2 bowls
• Fired pieces will be ready in 4-6 weeks.

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN TOWEL AND APRON.  Ages 16 and up.

Space is limited, only 6 students per session.
